The House

Filed Under Katie Lynn | Comments Off

This post is a few days late. Blame Kim & Ryan though since they were on vacation and we wanted them to see the house before we posted pictures online. ;) Just kidding!

We arrived in McKinney after a long but anxious drive from Lubbock. We locate the keys our realtor hid for us and enter the house. We sort of just look around and stare. We were really here. That didn’t last long though as we needed to unload my car and head over to Lowe’s to buy supplies for the various projects we had planned for the next few days. Tuesday night ended with us sleeping on a 3/4-the-way infated air mattress. :)

The movers came Wednesday morning and unloaded the truck. It only took two guys three hours to unload compared to three guys taking four hours to load up the truck. Wednesday was spent positioning furniture, moving boxes to their correct rooms, unpacking/organizing the kitchen — and Monica’s “big project“.

Thursday brought completion to our family in our new home; I drove over to my folks’ house to bring Wrigley home. My parents had been watching her for three months while we sold our house in Lubbock.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were much of the same in regards to the house — unpacking and organizing. Monica’s “big project” was compeleted as well.

Saturday night both sets of parents came over for a cookout and to see the new house.

Projects completed thus far:

  • Katie Lynn’s Room Painted
  • Fan & Furniture for Tom’s Office
  • Book Cove Shelving/Storage
  • Upstairs Family Room / Game Room Shelving & Storage
  • Downstairs Closet Organization
  • Artwork for Living Room Fireplace

Future projects:

  • Paint two remaining upstairs bedrooms
  • Upstairs Bathroom
  • Kitchen remodel
  • Master bath remodel

The Day After

Filed Under Katie Lynn | Comments Off

day 252…Katie Lynn was here and I was no longer pregnant.  There was such a rush of emotions.  I remember her popping out and the Doctor having to say it twice that it was a girl before I realized that I had a daughter.  I remember telling my friends that we had our baby and it was a girl.  I remember the reaction…WHAT? Seriously? You are joking!

The day after, my precious baby was here and she was in NICU with a tube up her nose.  My thoughts, hard to hear them because they were going a million miles a minute.  All I could think about was, how do I fix her, how can I help her, what do I do?

280…280 days was the mark, our count to our baby.  Our due date was December 4th and it was November 6th and I was no longer pregnant.  Most first time moms carry for 280 days, 40 weeks or 9 months and then some.  This was not the case for me.  As we went to visit Katie Lynn, my thoughts were “if I had carried her longer, she would have been okay” I felt like I had failed her.

All I could think was “my goal was 37 weeks(257 days), full term and everything would be fine” 5 days short, 5 days is such a short time.  Looking back at this now, all I can think about is “Thank God she came when she did, that she was early, that she had her own time frame and that she is so strong willed”

Katie Lynn has taught me so much and I don’t know what I would do without her.

Over the past 8 months I have met a lot of people through friends and have heard other stories from other mothers of their struggles and successes.  Everytime I hear or read a story of others, it makes me think.  I am so truly blessed and amazed at the hand of God.  He took care of my family and he healed my baby girl.  As many of you know, our first diagnoses was 1825 days until Katie Lynn could hope to be “normal”.  God healed her in 50 days.

At day 252, when I should have still been pregnant, I did not know what the future held and now at day 252 of Katie Lynn’s life in our world, I still do not know what the future holds but I know for sure that God is there and will guide us every step of the way.

My emotions today are much different than my emotions were just 252 days ago, today I have a beautiful healthy baby girl who makes me smile just looking at her.  I can’t imagine life without her and I never knew how much I could love her.  Katie Lynn is a miracle and she has taught me so much.

May God Bless you and be with you every step of the way.  We may not always see his plan or what he is trying to teach us but if we listen and follow it will work out.  There is always a reason for everything, it just takes time to realize why certain things happen.  It may take a day, a month, a year or a life time to realize why certain things happen in your life.

251

Today marks 251 days in our world..Katie Lynn spent 251 days in my tummy.  It is hard to believe that she has now spent just as much time with us as we spent waiting for her to get here.

The first 251 days was much longer than the past 251 days.  It is hard for me to believe that she is already 8 months old.

Our New Pool…….

Filed Under Katie Lynn | Comments Off

well at least our new neighborhood pool. (we are moved and working on getting unpacked, story to come soone with pictures.) After getting moved in to the house, we decided to go check out the pool.  There are 2 different pools that we can use in our community.  1 happens to be just a 4 minute walk from our house.

Growing up, I loved the water and my family spent the weekends at the lake on the water.  I want Katie Lynn to love the water and get to spend her summers in the water.  With the community pools we get the best of both worlds.  We get a pool that we can use anytime but don’t have to keep up with.  We plan on taking full advantage of our pool this summer.  Katie Lynn loves the pool.

Happy 8 month birthday

Katie Lynn turned 8 months old on Saturday.  She is growing so fast and doing so well.  We think she is getting close to saying her first word.  She sure keeps us laughing with all her different facial expression.  Here are some photos of her from her 8 month old birthday!

Lubbock In Your Rear View Mirror

Filed Under Katie Lynn | Comments Off

Where to start….Lubbock has been a wonderful place to live, work and get together with great friends. We will miss our friends and we will miss going to Texas Tech sporting events but we will not miss the random brown skies.

We spent the last couple of weeks saying goodbye to friends and visiting the sights of Lubbock.

This was not our last time in Lubbock, we plan on visiting every fall for a good football game and in the spring for basketball.

This move was very smooth.  The movers showed up Tuesday at 8am and started loading us up, 4 hours later they took off. Then we made the big trip knowing that once we left, we would no longer be living in Lubbock. It took us about 6 hours to get from Lubbock to our new home in McKinney.

Our first night here was wonderful. I think we spent most of the night just amazed that we were really here and couldn’t wait to get things done. The next morning the movers got here and unloaded our truck.

It is now Monday night and we have been here for almost a whole week. We made it safe and sound, now just to get settled.

Here are some photos from our last week in Lubbock.

Best group of friends a girl could ask for, I am going to miss this group so much.
(We have room, you can always come and visit!!! )

All the kiddos together.

Dana and Judy, two ladies who are very special to me.

Emma Kate and her mommy invited us over to swim. The girls had so much to talk about.

Colin invited Katie Lynn over to hang out.

All our love to our friends who are like family in Lubbock.  See you this fall at a game!! (We can’t stay away for long)

PS Congrats to Larry and Janae on the birth of their baby girl today.

NICU Revisited

Filed Under Katie Lynn | Comments Off

Every year the NICU unit at Covenant has a reunion. Luckily, this year’s reunion occurred before we moved!

We had a great time seeing some of the nurses that took excellent care of Katie Lynn while she was in NICU. We also got to catch up with parents and babies that we got to know while Katie Lynn was in NICU.

Here are some pictures from the reunion:

Karyn & Katie Lynn. Karyn was Katie Lynn’s first nurse after being transferred to Covenant.

Amy, Brynlee, Monica, Katie Lynn, and me. Brynlee was in NICU at the same time as Katie Lynn.

Katie Lynn & Jerry. While Jerry never actually had Katie Lynn as a patient, he was very personable and always chatted with Monica and me when we were up at the hospital with Katie Lynn. You can hear him in the video of Katie Lynn’s first feeding.
