Katie Lynn had her 6 month check up. Making progress: she weighed 11 pounds 13 ounces (after the stomach bug last week) which put her in the less than 3%, height was 24.5 inches which put her in the 10th% and then her head was 16.5 inches and was also in the 10th%. Overall she went from about 5% to 10%. We will have a weight check in about a month just to make sure she is gaining. Thanks for checking in!!!

Katie Lynn is now baptized! Thank you SO MUCH for those that attended. We have also figured out why she has been throwing up every 24-to-48 hours for the past month.. we think she doesn't like the lactose in regular Enfamil formula! We switched her over to Enfamil AR formula mix and she hasn't thrown up in over 48 hours.
by Tom @ Mon, 11 Feb 2008 15:27:41 -0600

Katie Lynn's baptism will be this Sunday, February 10th at 10:30am at Lake Ridge United Methodist Church. If you're in Lubbock, we would love for you to join us in this celebration!

by Tom @ Fri, 18 Jan 2008 03:39:23 -0600

Katie Lynn is doing well off the TPN. Bloodwork came back looking good, so the GI specialist has stopped future labwork! Now we're just looking for continued weight gain and the broviac IV can come out!
by Tom @ Fri, 11 Jan 2008 10:53:23 -0600

Katie Lynn comes off TPN tomorrow! Next appointment with the GI specialist is in two weeks, and at that time we hope/think he will order the broviac IV removed!
by Tom @ Wed, 09 Jan 2008 12:40:07 -0600

Katie Lynn had a total of FIVE poopy diapers today! She was running a very low-grade fever as well, but it is tapering down.
by Tom @ Mon, 24 Dec 2007 10:14:19 -0600

Katie Lynn had a rather large poopy diaper at 7:30am!
by Tom @ Mon, 24 Dec 2007 08:42:32 -0600

The 11:30pm feeding did not go well, she threw it all up in 10 minutes of finishing it. She got some sleep and woke up super fussy at about 3am. Yea for her being hungry! Changed her diaper and found stool!!!! Who knew it would be so exciting. Took her 3:30 am feeding and so far so good. Looks like our prayers will be answered and Katie Lynn will be okay!! Love you all, thank you for all your love and support.
by Monica @ Mon, 24 Dec 2007 01:42:40 -0800 (PST)

Today was a better day, Katie Lynn had an x-ray done and it looks as though gas is moving throughout her GI system. We stopped feedings last night, due the fact she was throwing up. We continued feeds today, her 11:30am and 3:30pm went well. She was able to keep them down for a little while but she threw up after a while. Her 7:30pm feed went great, she did not throw up at all!!! Lets up the 11:30pm feed goes just as well. Still waiting for more stool. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
by Monica @ Sun, 23 Dec 2007 21:19:44 -0800 (PST)

Much the same for the 7:30pm feeding; Katie Lynn didn't keep much (if any) of it down.
by Tom @ Sat, 22 Dec 2007 20:37:24 -0600

Katie Lynn got a bath, she is all nice and clean now. Her 3:30pm feeding did not go so well, she has successfully thrown it all up with in 30 minutes.
by Monica @ Sat, 22 Dec 2007 14:25:05 -0800 (PST)

Katie Lynn gets to eat again! She's only getting 1/2 ounce to start with, but she took her first one at 11:30am and kept 98% of it down. She continues to throw up the green bile, but it has gotten much more "liquidy", less green, less often, and lesser in amount. The surgeon said it's okay though and that she may even do that for a few months after surgery. There hasn't been another stool. Pray for poop!
by Tom @ Sat, 22 Dec 2007 02:59:03 -0600

Katie Lynn had a good night, no throw up since 9pm and no stool either. Doctor will be in first thing this morning to check on her, we should get to start feeding sometime today since she is not longer throwing up. This is a good sign things are moving in the right direction.
by Monica @ Sat, 22 Dec 2007 05:34:49 -0800 (PST)

Katie Lynn pooped some green stuff around 5pm today! It wasn't a huge amount, but there was definitely a green hue/tint to it. Also, the nurse is hearing stronger bowel sounds in both her upper and lower parts of her GI tract, so that's progress as well. We appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers.
by Tom @ Fri, 21 Dec 2007 20:03:33 -0600

Katie Lynn had a decent night. No stool yet, but we didn't really expect it until at least a good 24 hours after surgery.
by Tom @ Fri, 21 Dec 2007 08:44:22 -0600

Katie Lynn is out of surgery and in recovery. Surgeon said things look good and we're awaiting a bowel movement. She'll be moved into a regular room in about 45 minutes.

by Monica @ Sun, 16 Dec 2007 17:59:50 -0800 (PST)

Went to the hospital tonight; we were concerned with her ostomy. The on call surgeon got everything squared away and we will have a meeting with our surgeon early next week. The on call surgeon seems to think that Katie Lynn is ready to be reconnected, we could possibly be looking at surgery early next week. All indications at this point lead to a successful reconnection and hopefully no further problems once this is done. Please continue to pray for our precious baby girl. We love you all!

Katie Lynn has now had six straight twelve hour shifts where her intake has been greater than her output!
by Tom @ Wed, 28 Nov 2007 16:54:44 -0600

A contrast study was performed this morning to see how her lower ostomy and "non-working" portion worked. Within an hour, Katie Lynn had a bowel movement. We think this is a good sign but have not spoken with the surgeon or gastroenterologist yet.
